Kidney Infection Treatment
What To Do For A Kidney Infection
Kidney infection treatment depends, naturally, on the type of
kidney infection you have. Glomerulonephritis requires rest and antibiotics. Treatment usually takes up to two
weeks.
The other type of kidney infection, pyelonephritis, is a bacterial kidney infection that often
occurs when germs migrate upward from the bladder. The most important treatment steps involve killing the bacteria
at the root of the infection.
A kidney infection is a kidney problem that is often caused by bladder infection that migrates upward from the
bladder. This is perhaps the most common way how you get a kidney infection. Other causes include urine backup,
tumors, prostate growth problems, kidney stones, injuries, scars from previous infections, or even
pregnancy.
If the kidney infection is bacterial, a combination of rest and antibiotics usually provide the
best treatment. Your doctor will prescribe medications and tell you to take it easy for a week or possibly even
two. Then he or she will order blood tests, take your blood pressure and have a urinalysis done.
If an obstruction is causing this particulat type of kidney problem, it will be necessary to
find a way to clear it.
