Video - Kidney Dialysis Survival Rates and Quality of
Life
After individuals are diagnosed with end stage renal disease (ESRD) and are told they'll need kidney dialysis to survive, they will naturally have a lot of questions. Among the two
most common are how long can I live on kidney dialysis and what will my quality of life be
like?
In the video below, doctors answer those questions.
Currently, health authorities estimate that approximately 375,000 Americans are undergoing
kidney dialysis. Most are going to hospitals or treatment centers several times a week. Less than 10 percent have
dialysis equipment available in their homes.
Medicare pays approximately eight billion dollars a year for dialysis treatments.
