Easing Renal Colic Pain
A Personal Story
by Dave Patrick, longtime renal colic sufferer
In my experience, nothing short of serious painkillers, prescribed by your doctor, will help
ease the pain of renal colic.
But when renal colic strikes, it can seem like forever before you get that prescription filled
and it starts to work.
After about a dozen kidney stones in my lifetime (I wish that
was an exaggeration), I discovered that stading under a hot shower or submerging myself in a bathtub full of warm
water has been the only thing that has given me some immediate relief from renal colic.
I don't know why it works, but for me it does. I suspect stretching out horizontally in a tub
may relieve some of the gravitational pressure the obstruction is causing in my ureter--but that's strictly a
non-medical purely unscientific guess.
In any case, it might be worth a try if you're in renal colic hell.
Good luck!
